Our approach aims at sustainability and is realized by continuous improvement, creating shared value and innovation.
Sustainability is our next chapter: creating positive results for the business community, society and the environment.
We are in favour of durable agricultural economy, innovating programmes and partnerships.

Research & development

R&D is an important pillar to develop the perfect potato dish. Thanks to our comprehensive investment in R&D we make the difference between ‘mmm, delicious’ and ‘wow, I want more’.

Local potato growers

To keep in touch with the cultivation of potatoes we only work with Belgian, Dutch, French and German potato growers. This guarantees ‘Nature’s best’, which we can then transform with sophisticated and almost completely automatic apparatuses. Human interference is restricted to an absolute minimum.

Logistics

The logistic process is characterized by fast deliveries, flexible production lines and perfect traceability. Immediately after production, our goods go straight to the cold storage warehouses where they are kept at a constant temperature of - 21 °C before being transported to their final destinations. In Nazareth and Tilburg we use our fully automatic cold storage warehouses but all the other warehouses work with the same principle ‘First in, First out’.

Taking care of the environment

Since potatoes are our basic ingredient, we directly depend on nature. That’s why taking care of the environment is one of our major concerns. In each production unit there is an installation to purify and recuperate the water used for washing, peeling and blanching the raw products. Our modern machinery park contributes to a rational use of energy.

Agristo has a modern water purification station. The process water is first purified mechanically, followed by an anaerobe and aerobe biological purification. A bio-membrane reactor finally removes the last impurities. The biogaz produced during anaerobe purification is burned in a biogaz motor. This motor produces green energy used during the production process. This electricity covers 10 % of the needs of the company.
Thanks to our waste policy nothing is lost during the production process: peels and little rests become animal feed, starch that comes loose is used in the glue and paper industry, deposit becomes fertilizer, biogaz is used for heating.
Every year Agristo transforms more than 700 000 tonnes of potatoes into qualitative potato products which are delivered all over the world. Our cold storage warehouses have ample storage space for pallets. Since constant quality, from production to delivery, is a big concern of ours, we work with fixed qualitative partners for transport by road and by sea.
We have recently started to use transport by barges. From Tilburg containers leave daily through the Barge Terminal. This means that the number of trucks decreases considerably. On our other sites we also examine all possibilities to reduce our ecological footprint to a minimum.
