A geographical gold mine
Why 150 kilometres? Simple. We want to reduce our ecological footprint in all elements of the production chain. Lowering our logistical emissions is one of our 2030 sustainability goals. Furthermore, we stay within the potato belt to help local development and support local growers.
Strong understanding, strong friendships
Because we want all of our stakeholders to grow. Which means we have to support our growers in their own path to growth. After all, your crispy fries depend on the supply of potatoes. Our best guarantee is our strong relationship with our farmers. These strong friendships have led to a better understanding of the potato: our territory has expanded, the number of growers and volumes have increased.
Agronomists with potato knives at the ready
Maintaining and developing these long-term relationships is an honour that goes out to our in-house team of Agro Account Managers. About a dozen agronomic experts keep their finger on the pulse with our 800 growers. They speak the grower’s language and all share a deep passion for potatoes. They aren’t in the office much. Out and about, going from grower to grower, from field to warehouse. They keep wellies in the boot of their car and always carry a potato knife.
When a grower asks, “come and look at this,” they cut open a potato. By look, feel and smell they give advice based on their vast technical knowledge. Serving as a go-between and facilitator for our growers, standing up for and safeguarding their interests. They also provide input for a fair pricing policy. If things go wrong due to bad climate conditions, we opt for a human approach together with our agronomists.
